The "Passarin" project is an affective product design project. The name "Passarin" is an affectionate joke with the accent of people who live in northeastern Brazil. The word "passarinho" means ''bird'' in English. I am northeastern, I live in Ceará, and here we all call the birds "Passarin''.
Birds carry a story to tell, just like you! In this project your loveliest memories can be transformed in a single object with an immensely special value.

This was a project from when I was studying. My product design teacher taught us that almost all products arise from a need (a problem) and our issue here is the insomnia. The reasons why people suffer from insomnia are many, like depression, anxiety, lack of exercise and other things.

According to Bryan Lufkin from BBC Worklife, the word "Insomnia" was more searched on Google in 2020 than in the last years.

So, what’s the connection of our. luminaire with all this?
Studies prove that the light influences the rhythm of our body, both artificial light and natural sunlight.
* Lamps that emit a warm light of up to 3,000K create a cozy atmosphere, ideal for a relaxing enviroment.

This was our moodboard of inspiration and the colors we chose for the graphic part of the project.

Based on this, we came to the conclusion that a night light would be ideal to help people find calm and relaxation in time to rest and sleep.

• What is the project about?
The Passarin project is more than just a lamp, it can tell a story about who you are, and still become a faithful guardian. These are paper lamps, designed and shaped in the shape of native birds of Ceará (northeastern Brazil). The luminaires follow an aesthetic inspired by origami, an ancient folding technique.
EN

• What is the goal of the project?
Bring security, comfort and attachment to an object that has the maximum potential to be an amulet of peace for someone.
EN

• How could you purchase the product?
Besides the lamps are native birds of Ceará, the person can still find out which bird of the state is more compatible with his personality. The process would be simple: just go to the selected location and perform a research of up to 30 minutes with a specialized researcher, who will know how to say exactly which bird looks more like your person.
EN

• What is the mission of the project?
Alleviate insomnia cases through the sentimental value that a single and simple object can carry in its meaning, and make people develop a greater attachment to the state in which they were born, so they can see it as their true home.

These are the technical designs of our luminaires.

The bird we chose for the first prototype was the "Anu-Coroca".
The elders say that in their last moments, when they hear the song of the Black Anu, it translates into the phrase "Smile because this moment will take you to paradise". So, because of this, the bird is known as the Porter of the Shadow.
thanks for getting here!
